About me

 

I have over eight years’ experience of teaching English at top independent secondary schools in the US and the UK, seven years’ experience of teaching at US and UK universities, and over twenty years’ experience in private tutoring and academic coaching. I have a track record of guiding students towards achieving high marks and of helping them to gain admission to top programmes. 

 

My educational qualifications include a B.A., M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in English Literature. I earned my M.Phil. from the University of Oxford and my doctorate from Royal Holloway, University of London. I am also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Teaching Philosophy

 

I believe that instruction in English should empower students to become confident thinkers, readers, and writers. Question-based lessons stimulate independent critical thinking, enabling students to deepen comprehension and to hone their own ideas. I work closely with each student to identify their specific needs and tailor my pedagogical approaches to their learning style. With practice and targeted, assessment-focused, personal support, learning goals can be achieved.
